Your First Visit

Complimentary Examination and Consultation

The first step in beginning treatment in our office is an examination appointment with Dr. Reed. At this time Dr. Reed will do a detailed examination and let you know if orthodontic treatment makes sense for you, what needs to be done, how long it will take, and approximately what it will cost. This appointment typically takes 15-30 minutes.

If you are a candidate for treatment, the next step is to schedule a record appointment. At the record appointment we will be gathering information to aid in diagnosis and treatment planning. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care. We will make models of your teeth, take measurements, x-rays, and photographs. With this detailed information, Dr. Reed can determine more exactly what your needs are and establish a plan of treatment.

The third step is the consultation appointment, where Dr. Reed will carefully explain the diagnosis and treatment plan, including which appliances are needed and how long he expects the treatment to take. Also, the responsibilities of the patient are discussed on this day, so it is important for patients under 18 to bring their parents. Financial arrangements will also be discussed at this appointment. However, we do not require any payment until treatment is actually started. If for some reason you decide not to pursue treatment after the consultation, we naturally will ask you to pay for the records. If you decide to proceed with treatment, the record charge is included in the fee.

Regular Appointments

The appointments when you get your appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually take 1 to 2 hours. You'll then see us at regular intervals 4 to 8 weeks apart for adjustments, which typically take 20 to 40 minutes. Patients are seen by appointment only. We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately.

Payment & Office Policies

The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the patient's problem. You will be able to discuss fees and payment options before treatment begins. We have several payment plans to suit different budgets. We work hard to make orthodontics affordable.

In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:

  • To fit your individual needs, financial arrangements can be made to extend your payments over a period of months.
  • For your convenience, we accept payment by Visa and Mastercard.
  • We also accept Care Credit

If you have insurance, we will help you to determine the coverage you have available. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
